“Subway Ride of Life”
Empty faces. Empty lives.
Emotionless people with emotionless eyes.
Let me stare out empty windows and be like all the rest.
For our destinies are numbers as we ride three abreast.
Breath deep the drug-like odors trapped in stale dirty cars.
Intoxicate me in a world void of heaven or twinkling stars.
I sit a stranger among people just like me,
Clean with filth, impoverished with wealth…just trying to be.
On a subway ride of life, from everywhere they come,
To forget where they’re going, to forget where they’re from.
